When LoTI first came out, the LoTI stood for Levels of Technology Integration. The title intimidated some folks so the title was changed to Level of Teaching Innovation, all the same standards and procedures. Added to this was H.E.A.T.

Teaching at the lower levels of LoTI is like teaching on a low resolution television. Students will remember a little of the information, possibly, like for instance, there were people in this picture, but they won't remember much else, like the details and supporting facts. Using technology appropriately in the classroom helps students to become more engaged and to hold on to information longer with deeper understanding.

As you move up in levels, class time moves from lecture to Doing, Interacting, and Productivity

21st Century Students need to be able to:

--Summarize data

--Write and Publish the results using a method that is personally important
